Life Long Fashionista

I mentioned ages ago that the first thing I ever wanted to be was a fashion designer. From exhibitions at the V&A to LFW festival, as the Bratz would say I've got a "passion 4 fashion". So in the age of technology and everyone jumping on the blogger train, it would make sense that I would have started a fashion blog ages ago. Well, I did.

When I was 16 I went to my first fashion show. After all the years of watching project runway and making my own clothes I finally got to experience a real live fashion show and I was so excited. It was everything I expected and more. The models were elegant and fierce, the music was energetic and it was over before I had time to get over how excited I was. So, afterwards I went home, Googled "how to make a blog" and set up a Wordpress account. I wanted to share what I had experienced and I had a lot of pictures from the show, so I decided my first post would be about the show. I researched the designers; their inspirations, backgrounds and previous collections. In typical Jade fashion I did this all in secret. Then when it came to posting it online I was too scared. This was after I had lost a lot of weight and had just started gaining it again so I was extra insecure and very scared of ridicule. In the end I didn't post it and that was that.

Up until recently I had completely forgotten about my first blog, until I was looking into making the new one (remember save the date Jan 1st) and I realised I already had a Wordpress account. So I did the whole forgotten password thing and ta-da there it was, 16 year old me curated on a page. While my writing style has changed (arguably not for the better) at least my confidence has. I'm not sure if this has come with age or if the way I approach life is different, but I'm definitely more confident. But to be honest the fundamentals of my style haven't changed that much, just adapted to changes in my body. I still like black, white and grey with bits of denim and colour stills slightly scares.

Funnily enough it was the mixture of having my student loan and 50% off everything at Misguided, in my first year at uni that pushed me to try colour.
I had money.
There was a sale.
No one knew me.
So I dabbled in baby pink, blues, oranges, red for the first time, while some were a big fail (found out brown is NOT my colour) I discovered that the sun making my melanin shine plus royal blue was the ultimate combination.

Now, as I move into 2018 I'm going back to my second love (obviously after food): fashion. This may even become a mainly fashion blog because that's what makes me happy, but who knows?

What I do know is 2018 is the year of pushing myself, kicking and screaming, out of my comfort zone. So expect:
- more fashion
- more travel
- more new experiences

Wish me luck
