Love Letter To My Darlings
So, now it’s time to talk about my sugar dumplings in all their
shapes, sizes and different levels of craziness. (btw nicknames will be used to
protect identities but don’t worry you’ll know who you are).
Now there’s no other place to begin but with my longest friend my
CandyBar, the one who keeps me on the straight and narrow. I met this girl in
primary school back when we were both overweight, we bonded over our lack of
interest in boys and we’ve been together ever since. She’s one of the most naturally
talented people I know, her singing ability and likeability is unlike anyone
else I’ve met. While we don’t see each other often due to busy schedules and her
inability to answer her phone or return phone calls, there’s not a version or
my world where I can imagine her not in it.
Next is my Giraffe. My fellow tall sister, lover of cocktails and
good food. We were pushed together in mix up on an Italian home stay trip when
were 13 and after sharing a bed for a week it’s hard to not become close. She’s
hilarious and loving and is exactly what the doctor ordered when I need to talk
about my problems over a glass of wine (or prosecco if it’s something serious).
I’m honestly so happy I met her because she’s an absolute treasure.
Can’t forget about my Anie. After pestering her in French lessons
for a few months this girl made the mistake of sitting next to me in GCSE
History and that was it. Her amazing ability to be good at everything is
probably what I admire most about her, she’s simultaneously a genius and an
idiot…like how? She’s random yet focused, funny but (mostly) not annoying and
talented but not cocky. Every time we get together there’s always laughs, food
and some crazy story, what’s not to love.
My J.Cole Sister. We went through primary school, secondary
school, sixth form and even started uni together before our first big fight. It
wouldn’t be us if the fight made sense and was about something, but no instead
we were arguing about the fact that we weren’t arguing. Anyway, we’re enroute
to being back and better. I don’t know how I got so lucky to share my
transition from childhood through my teenage years to now with her but she’s
been there through the good and bad. She was always there for me ready for a
random text or facetime whether it was something serious or not.
Now it’s time for the newest editions to the crazy crew my baddest
b’s. Let’s start with my fellow You Alright Yh raver. Met this girl on the
first full day of being at uni and we’ve been together ever since. This girl
makes me laugh, makes me scream and has been essential in my uni experience
what it is, without her I don’t know what I would have done. She’s queen of
pretending to hate my hugs and encouraging me with equal energy levels to go to
a party and to go to the library. Let’s not forget my Little “Fully Portuguese”
Princess. Somehow we went to schools that were walking distance from eachother for 7 years and never met, have mutual friends but never met and were
at some of the same parties but never met. But at uni we met and we clicked.
This girl protects me like a fierce mama lion sometimes holding grudges against
people that I’ve already forgiven. When I feel like a sack of ugly potatoes she’s
always the one to lift me up and I haven’t met anyone I can talk about nothing
for hours with like her.
So, finally just to tell you guys even when I shout, scream and get in my funny moods you
guys are my actual faves and wouldn’t be able to walk this crazy road called life
without you.
